About the role
Now working in the latest Asset Management Period, known as AMP 7, we are working towards delivering an approximate 1.3bn programme of work until 2025.

With this in mind, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyors to join the team
Purpose of the role:
* Commercial management of a large infrastructure project or a portfolio of
smaller projects
* Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying
commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
* Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and
managing supply chain
* Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for
money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our
customers
* Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external
stakeholders
* Contract administration with both client and subcontractors
* Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process
* Mentor and develop junior members of the team
* Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional
certification
What you'll be doing
As our new Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of commercial activities associated with the @Onealliance. You will be a key member of a wholly collaborative team and will use your experience, enthusiasm and skills to help the team drive efficiency and outperformance.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities
* Subcontracts are properly prepared & reflect agreed scope. Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events,
* Work closely with the procurement team, Construction Manager and Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to develop & monitor procurement strategy.
* Work closely with the site Team attending site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenge to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escalate when necessary.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* An organised, innovative and creative Quantity Surveyor with knowledge and
experience of working on Projects
* Experience of collating costs and maximising value on a large project or
portfolio of projects
* Experience of working as a QS, including the need to support with financial
and commercial control within a project
* Experience of procuring and managing supply chain
* Already in possession of or working towards professional accreditation
* Proactively develop others around you including junior members of the team
* Desire to develop line management experience
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, working
efficiently and to a high standard
* Interest and experience in infrastructure projects
* Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed
The following qualifications or equivalent (preferred, not essential to role):
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or
experience

The contract is for the entire five-year regulatory period, from 2020 to 2025, with extensions which could take it to 2030, making it one of the longest collaborations in the sector. It operates within an alliance of delivery partners set up by Anglian Water.
As a stakeholder within the Anglian Water @one Alliance, Balfour Beatty provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Waters region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching from the Humber to the Thames estuary and from Buckinghamshire to the East Coast. Work is mainly focussed on clean water Infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumping stations.
