Responsibilities
 * Implementing, promoting and assuring the integrity of manufacturing processes, with focus on process safety and, in the future, process environmental and security issues.
 * Ensuring that manufacturing processes, facilities and equipment for both legacy and future products comply with statutory, corporate and contractual safety requirements.
 * Acting as the functional safety Subject Matter Expert for Engineering and as the approver of Technical Requirements Specifications for facilities and equipment during the Process Concept, Design, Commissioning, Handover, Process Routine Operation and Process De‑Commissioning phases.
 * Reviewing and assuring Process Flow, PFMEA and Process Control Plan documentation.
 * Assuring appropriate planning for preventative maintenance has been conducted.
 * Supporting and providing advice to project and site staff to ensure the generation of process safety deliverables and assure their credibility.
Qualifications
 * Science or Engineering degree, HND or equivalent – Manufacturing/Electrical/Mechanical (achieved or working towards).
 * Proven experience within a manufacturing environment – Process, Aerospace or Automotive.
Desirable
 * Deriving and setting safety criteria using industry standards and best practice.
 * Deploying the principles of functional safety, its lifecycle and the standards appropriate for munitions.
 * Applying hazard identification, analysis and risk assessment techniques.
 * Analysing and applying risk controls within a structured safety management process, ideally in a high‑hazard environment.
 * Producing robust and compelling ALARP and safety arguments.
Job Description
You will be integrated within a newly established project team as the Senior Engineer, Process Assurance – a key role in maintaining process integrity, ensuring consistent application of engineering standards, and driving operational excellence. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders to identify process risks, implement corrective actions, and embed a culture of continuous improvement. Acting as the functional safety subject matter expert for Engineering, you’ll provide assurance that products and processes meet internal, customer and regulatory expectations. The position will be based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire on a four‑day working pattern within a hybrid‑working environment with occasional travel to other customer, manufacturing and test and evaluation sites.
