Management Accountant
Reportin to Financial Controller
As a member of the Connells Survey & Valuation Finance Team your role is to support and assist the Financial Controller and Finance Director to help drive performance of the business through accuracy of reporting, timely production of high-quality management accounts, MI reports and other financial information.
Principle Accountabilities and Control Objectives
Management Accounts & Reporting
* Involvement in month end processes to include activities such as; month end accruals and prepayments, completion of control account reconciliations, reconciliation of intercompany transactions, production of monthly MI reports and any other tasks to support month end reporting.
* Responsible for preparation of month end control file and ensuring that strong financial controls are in place and maintained.
* Prepare, post and review journals.
* IFRS16 monthly postings and reconciliations.
* Assist with year-end external audit process helping to ensure key deliverables are available on time.
* Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts reporting pack for submission to Group Finance.
* Responsible for preparation of quarterly VAT returns and other annual tax reporting.
* Responsible for the support and oversight of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes and controls.
Operational Activities
* Assist with the monitoring, management and forecasting of cashflow.
* Review and approval of weekly supplier and employee expense payment runs.
* Approval of ad hoc payments via online banking facilities.
* Assist with personnel related activities and to liaise with relevant Group departments to resolve queries.
* Assist with expense claims when required, ensuring claims are approved and processed in line with policy and ensuring compliance with VAT regulations.

Skills and Attributes
* ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or working towards the final stages of your finance qualification.
* A minimum of 3 years financial or management accounting experience is desirable. Would suit somebody looking for their first role in industry.
* Previous relevant experience in a busy finance department would be of great advantage.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, including experience of interpreting financial data.
* Proficient user of Excel (e.g. experienced with vlookups, IF statements, pivot tables).
* Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
* Hard working with a hands-on approach, leading by example. Willing and able to work flexible hours as and when necessary.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines, and work under own initiative.
* Enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn
* Strong responsibility and ownership of the role, demanding of high performance from oneself and from others.
