Due to retirement, this unique opportunity to lead marina and boatyard operations has arisen. You will ensure excellent safety and service for Members of this prestigious sailing club. The Club has around 500 members, a 200-berth marina for yachts up to 40', a substantial boat-park, a thriving Clubhouse and social programme. The marina team conduct around 500 separate boat lifts and launches annually.
This is very much a hands on role in and around the marina, leading a small boatyard team.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all marina and boatyard operations comply with current legislation, safety standards, and the Club's internal policies and procedures.
Conduct safe lift and launch operations using the Club's 14T Wise trailer-hoist, Roodberg slipway trailer, and tractors, as well as the MOD's 50T Wise travel lift.
Oversee the safe, efficient storage and layout of boats in the boat park during lay-up periods.
Manage bookings for all marina-related services, liaising with Members, coordinating schedules, and maintaining accurate records.
Complete and document daily, weekly, and monthly checks on marina and yard equipment, ensuring all assets are correctly maintained, tested, and safe to use.
Oversee repair and replacement of marina and boatyard infrastructure, including machinery, pontoons, piles, and safety equipment.
Ensure hazardous materials are stored and disposed of in accordance with environmental and safety regulations; maintain a clean, safe working environment.
Lead and develop a small marina team (1 Supervisor and 2 Operatives), fostering professional growth and delivering high standards of service.
Perform routine site maintenance and groundworks as needed.
Identify and pursue opportunities to expand marina services and generate additional revenue.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven leadership and team management experience in a marina or similar operational environment.
Significant hands-on experience with slipway lifts and yacht launches up to 40'/12m, using similar equipment (Wise trailer-hoist, Roodberg trailer, travel lifts).
In-depth understanding of marina operational safety standards and procedures.
Strong administrative and IT competency, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality service to Club Members.
