Overview
Electrical Design Engineer - Submarines. Full Time Derby. Rolls-Royce Submarines. As the Electrical Design Engineer you will work as part of a team consisting of mechanical, systems and EC&I engineers, with support from other functions around the Submarines Business. This role supports design from development through the whole lifecycle and is suited to Electrical Design Engineers with experience designing safety-critical bespoke capital equipment, machinery or process equipment.

Hybrid working is available; attendance at the workplace is expected for collaboration and specific reasons, on average three days per week.
Responsibilities
* Undertake or support all design tasks from scoping and blank page design to authoring substantiation and safety documentation, and support procurement through the manufacture, test and supply of components.
* Produce technical reports and operating manuals to a high standard.
* Deliver to cost, specification and programme.
* Work closely with the project engineer and multi-discipline teams to develop detailed plans and estimates to meet business objectives.
What we're looking for
* Electrical Design experience from scoping to delivery in a complex manufacturing or engineering environment is essential; relevant sectors include Defence, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Capital Equipment, Machine Manufacturers, Process Plant (Chemical, Drinks, Refinery), Rail or Aerospace.
* Experience with bespoke safety-critical products; project or technical coordinator experience in a service/engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Electrical controls and instrumentation design experience and an understanding of electrical design principles.
* A good understanding of a design process from scoping to delivery.
* A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent CPD and experience.
* Ideally experience of design work related to submarines (NSRP).
