Position Summary:
The EHS Manager works as part of the site EHS team to deliver the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programme for both the Development Laboratories and Drug Substance Manufacturing area.
At Asymchem you will have the opportunity to
* Act as a subject matter expert ensuring site compliance with health and safety legislation as it applies to both laboratory and Manufacturing teams.
* Manage and Analyze EHS data to identify trends and inform decision making to identify improvements, ensuring that systems meet internal and external auditor expectations.
* Lead and support EHS based investigations and associated action outcomes, ensuring root cause and human factors analysis, working proactively to deliver high quality completed records, investigations, and associated actions on time.
* Lead and develop sustainability programmes to support both laboratory and manufacturing teams and manage the collection of Scope,1,2 and 3 data to support the site environmental programme.
* Support assessment of EHS implications of changes, ensuring risks are identified and controls and implemented optimally. Manage documentation associated with change requests, across manufacturing, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed, available, and controlled.
* Apply data and PDCA to support continuous improvement of systems that will maintain or enhance EHS systems across the site (e.g., EHS management system, documentation life cycle, training practices, SOP improvements, process flows).
* Lead and manage Risk Assessment programme within the development laboratories, ensuring required controls are well defined and implemented.
* Support the site Industrial Hygiene programme and work with onsite teams to implement improvements.
* Lead internal and external audit programme activities and support the implementation of potential improvements.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
* Certification in NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, IOSH or equivalent.
* Strong Knowledge of UK EHS legislation, risk assessment methodologies and investigation practices.
* Extensive experience in a UK based EHS role including experience in laboratory safety practices.
* Experience in the management of Industrial Hygiene Programmes
* Proactive and flexible profile, collaborates and communicates effectively with all.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other similar industries including chemical and FMCG.
* Experience of delivering Environmental and Sustainability programs and supporting Ecopharmacovigilance assessment as part of a broader Environmental programme.
* Experience in the management of hazards of highly potent compounds.
