Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an experienced Full Stack Data Platform Engineer to join our existing Data Platform Architectural Services team within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department. This is a full‑time, 2‑year fixed term contract, 37‑hour week, with a competitive salary starting at £48,226 (gross) per annum. The role is office based with flexible or home working options available.

We are the largest non‑metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service in England, providing prevention, protection and response services across Devon and Somerset. Our vision is to end preventable fire and rescue emergencies, creating a safer world for everyone.
About The Role
As a Data Platform Engineer you will support the development, maintenance and optimisation of key data platforms within the service catalogue. Responsibilities include:
* Build and manage ETL processes to ensure data quality and integrity.
* Maintain and enhance data warehouse solutions, ensuring they are well‑documented, reliable and aligned with organisational strategy.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business data needs and deliver scalable, customer‑focused solutions.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of data systems and promote data‑driven culture within the team.
What we look for
We seek an enthusiastic and proactive individual with:
* Relevant experience in data engineering or similar technical roles.
* Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL, and data warehousing principles.
* Experience with cloud‑based data platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
* Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, scripting and Power BI.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to deliver projects on time, prioritise tasks and produce clear documentation.
* A proactive mindset and willingness to lead data solution design.
