The University is seeking an experienced Senior Information Compliance Officer to join our Information Security and Compliance Team within the Governance and Assurance department for a 12 month fixed-term period. This key role will help deliver our comprehensive privacy enhancement programme as we modernise our privacy management framework in response to evolving legislative requirements including UK GDPR and the Data (Access and Use) Act 2025.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Compliance and Data Protection Officer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the University's data protection compliance framework, delivering a comprehensive review of privacy notices and Records of Processing Activities.
As a Senior Information Compliance Officer you will:
Deliver a comprehensive privacy notice review programme across all University notices (staff, student, applicant, alumni, research participant, etc), ensuring compliance with UK GDPR Articles 13 and 14 and the Data (Access and Use) Act 2025.
Conduct a full review and enhancement of the University's Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) in accordance with UK GDPR Article 30, including detailed data mapping exercises across University departments.
Review and enhance core data protection policies and guidance documentation, ensuring they reflect current legislative requirements and ICO guidance.
Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders across the University.
Provide expert guidance on data protection matters, supporting Privacy Impact Assessments.
The successful candidate will possess significant experience in data protection gained through large or complex organisations, with detailed knowledge of UK GDPR, in particular, Articles 13, 14 and 30 and their practical application. You will have proven ability to draft clear, accessible documentation for diverse audiences, experience conducting data mapping and assessment exercises, and maintaining Records of Processing Activities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence senior management on data protection issues and risks are essential. Strong project management capabilities and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and excellent data management skills are required.
This is a full-time hours per week) fixed-term post for 12 months.
