Westinghouse Springfields Business is looking to fill a vacancy working as Quality Assurance Engineer in a key part of a well-supported team in a diverse environment within the one of the most modern Fuel Fabrication Facilities in the World. The future for the business is extremely exciting with the opportunity to challenge themselves to provide Quality Assurance activities for existing customers contracts and also an increasing portfolio for new orders and new customers whilst ensuring that we continue to work toward safer standards and higher quality and identify new opportunities for carrying out daily improvement opportunities.
You will be provide the opportunity to work in new markets including Reprocessed Uranium Fuel, HALEU/LEU+ fuel and other next-generation fuel types. The business has experience developing employees into senior positions in the organisation and outside the organisation and you would be at the forefront of Nuclear Fuels Engineering in the
You will ensure that Product is being manufactured meets the requirements of the Quality Management System, Process Parameters and Customer Specification Requirements.
You will report to the QA Lead & Improvements Manager and be located at Springfields Fuels Site. This is an onsite position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Certification of product to confirm it meets the requirements of a technical specification determined by our customer or internal technical team
2. Provide advice and decisions on potential non-conforming product, Quality Reviewer for related CAP's (Corrective Action Process), managing documentation (, inspection schedules), and oversight of plant qualifications
3. Carry out 'in process monitoring' and 'statistical process control' to ensure manufacturing parameters are maintained within a predetermined window
4. Support the auditing of external parties and accompanying the customer surveillance engineers along with attending customer Quality Meetings
5. Support our CAP to carry out corrective actions & carrying out first line quality investigations
6. Help maintain certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
7. Assist the Quality Manager with defining, measuring, and improving Key Performance Indicators based around the 5 pillars of Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Delivery
Qualifications:
8. Typically Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) or equivalent experience in relevant discipline
9. Experience in train staff in Quality Assurance Engineering duties.
10. Technical ability to gain deep understanding of the relevant plant processes
11. Applicants must be able to work in a controlled area
12. Ideally knowledge and experience in quality / operations management but other candidates will be considered
13. Experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC), trending & statistics evaluation· Continuous Improvement experience such as Green Belt, Black Belt, Six Sigma etc.
