Overview
We are seeking a Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Care First, located in Great Barr, Walsall and Tamworth. You will work within a friendly multidisciplinary team in an education setting, delivering bespoke occupational therapy assessment and intervention to learners who may have developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the education and care team to deliver occupational therapy assessment and intervention.
* Hold an occupational therapy caseload under the guidance of a clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Support the growth of apprentices, students and therapy assistants, contributing to staff training and consultation.
* Apply the Occupational Therapy Ways of Working to ensure best practice within an education and social care setting.
* Maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach, safeguarding culture, and involve learners in decisions that affect them.
Requirements
* Recognised occupational therapy degree.
* Registered member of RCOT.
* HCPC registration.
* Relevant previous experience as a student OT or in a related role.
* Experience working with individuals experiencing learning difficulties and/or neurodiversity.
* Strong communication, relationship, analytical and judgmental skills.
* Good time‑management and organisational skills.
* Understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication.
* Basic understanding of physical needs, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and treatment.
* Basic IT skills.
* Understanding of information governance, confidentiality and record‑keeping standards.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
* Experience of multidisciplinary work across varied settings.
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Knowledge of legislation relevant to clinical practice and professional management for the client group.
* Knowledge of different assessment tools, intervention programmes and formulation of treatment plans from a range of OT modalities.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £30,000 DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks.
