Job summary
The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the University Health Board safeguards the well-being of research participants, including patients, staff, and control subjects. This will involve supporting participants through the research pathway, in accordance with the research protocol and relevant legislation. The postholder will support the Assistant Director for R&D and the R&D Manager in meeting the Research and Development Division, Welsh Government Key Performance Indicators and Metrics.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of a well-established team, the post holder will ensure that research within the University Health Board safeguards the well-being of participants, including patients, staff, and control subjects. Responsibilities include supporting participants through the research pathway, adhering to research protocols and legislation.
We seek a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for research and an interest in developing and supporting collaborative commercial and non-commercial research within the University Health Board. The post holder will work with a team of research nurses, officers, and assistants to support the setup and delivery of research across the UHB.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will identify and screen study participants per the research protocol, in collaboration with the research team. They will provide guidance on the research process to ensure participants understand the study and give valid informed consent, following ICH GCP guidelines. Responsibilities include supporting patients through the research pathway for commercial and non-commercial projects, ensuring patient safety at all times. The role involves assessing feasibility, study setup, support, coordination, and operational management of research studies across the UHB. Clinical procedures such as phlebotomy and questionnaire completion may be required.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Knowledge
* UK NMC registration
* Knowledge of Research legislation, GCP, and National Framework
* Certificate in ICH Good Clinical Practice
Skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail
* Data analysis, interpretation, and project management skills
Experience
* Experience working at Band 5 (or equivalent) in a health research setting with service user/carer contact
* Experience in clinical interviewing
