The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for developing technical solutions for client bids, maintaining and expanding client relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of integrated technical proposals. This role aims to increase company turnover and profitability by securing both existing and new business opportunities.
Job requirements
* Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.).
* Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, Draftsight preferred).
* Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and customer-facing abilities.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Self-motivated with a proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
Experience:
* Proven experience in a client-focused role within a technical or engineering environment.
* Prior experience preparing technical proposals and business documents.
* Background in the mechanical handling sector or heavy engineering is desirable.
* Capable of working autonomously and managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.

Job responsibilities:
* Develop and nurture relationships with new and existing clients to promote enquiries and maximise sales.
* Interpret client tender documentation and relay key information to internal teams.
* Create initial technical solutions aligned with the company’s service offerings.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to develop execution strategies and technical solutions.
* Coordinate with suppliers to build integrated solutions and evaluate supplier quotations for robustness.
* Manage the full technical proposal process, including preparing accurate and timely submissions.
* Support bid modelling, providing cost estimations and identifying potential scope gaps.
* Act as a technical point of contact and maintain strong client relationships throughout the sales cycle.
* Attend technical meetings with clients and suppliers for clarifications and negotiations.
* Lead technical handover meetings to ensure smooth transition into project delivery.
