Graduate Data Scientist An amazing opportunity for a recent graduate with a degree in a STEM discipline. £30,000 Starting Salary Office based - West Malling (1day WFH after probation) Must Drive - ideally due to the location of the office, unless you live very locally, free parking is provided Monday to Friday 8.30-5.30 My client is looking for a highly motivated individual who is a recent graduate with an honour's degree (2:1 and above) in Computer Science (or other relevant Data Science or AI degree) to join thier expanding data and analytics team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, keen to learn new skills, have a fundamental understanding of multiple programming languages, a self-motivated problem solver, analytically thinking, efficient, with strong inter-personal skills and a can-do attitude who is committed to meeting deadlines whilst producing high quality work. This role offers a graduate data scientist the chance to use the skills learned at degree level to build advanced models that have a significant impact within the business. The role offers flexibility in how these models are built with the data scientist required to use their own research and expertise to decide how to approach a problem and find a solution. Key Responsibilities Work alongside the rest of the data team to build clean and robust data pipelines. Develop and test machine learning models to help aid in business decisions. To work with other team members to understand how artificial intelligence could be harnessed by the business to improve efficiency. To work alongside the data analysts to carry out ad-hoc data requests when required. Organise the data and model outputs into a format that is readable and understandable for presentation to senior management and non-technical stakeholders. KEY SKILLS/COMPETENCIES Skills and Experience Strong academic background, with a degree in Computer Science (2:1 and above). Strong numerical background with a knowledge of key statistical principals e.g. Bayesian and frequentist statistics, probability distributions. Fundamental understanding of ML algorithms e.g. linear and logistic regression, random forest, neural networks, time series models. Experience with multiple programming languages, with a preference for SQL and Python. Familiarity with large language models and prompt engineering would be beneficial. Self-educating, curious and pragmatic, solution-oriented mind-set. Participates as a team member, creating effective and professional working relationships with colleagues across multiple teams.
