About the Role We are currently recruiting for a Family Practitioner to join a dedicated Children’s Services team in Staffordshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children, young people, and families, using a restorative approach to provide both high support and appropriate challenge.
You will play a key role in helping families stay together, stabilising placements, and supporting positive, long-term outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with children, young people, and families using a restorative practice model
Lead and contribute to early help assessments and plans
Support children in need, those on child protection plans, and children in care
Facilitate and organise family meetings, professional meetings, and group interventions
Deliver targeted support around:
Parenting and behaviour management
Attachment and relationships
Loss and grief
Safeguarding and exploitation risks
Undertake parenting assessments, mediation, and crisis intervention
Maintain accurate records, reports, and case documentation
Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where requiredWhat We’re Looking For Essential:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in working with children and families
Experience working with children, families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary setting
Strong understanding of:
Child development and trauma
Safeguarding and children’s legislation
Issues such as domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, and poverty
Experience delivering or supporting parenting programmes
Ability to build strong relationships and manage challenging situations
Strong written and IT skills for case recording
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user)Key Skills & Attributes
