We are currently seeking a Building Control Team Leader to develop and maintain cost-effective policies and procedures to ensure the team assists in the successful delivery of the Council's vision. You will provide advice and interpret policies, engage in pre-application discussions, and stay up to date with changes in Building Regulations and other relevant legislation that could impact our services.
Organised and conscientious, you'll manage a portfolio of applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations including Building Regulations, liaising with internal and external stakeholders. As a motivational leader, you'll develop and support the team through training, mentoring, and professional development, driving the Council's priorities and vision by fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and value for money.
With a proven strategic mindset, you'll be pivotal in developing quality and risk assurance, service plans, and performance management to ensure compliance, delivery of quality services, and operational effectiveness and efficiency. We also want you to shape the service for the future, including exploring new commercial opportunities.
Registered with the Building Safety Regulator to class 2 (A-F) and able to work towards class 3 (G-H) and Class 4 - Technical Manager.
Key Requirements:
* Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, approved documents, and legislation. Comprehensive knowledge of BSR Operating Standard Rules and KPIs.
* Extensive knowledge and experience in Building Technology and Surveying, including building construction, Fire Safety and Means of Escape, Structural engineering, Supervision of building work, and dangerous structures.
* Practical application of the enforcement procedure under the Building Act 1984. Ability to motivate and lead staff effectively.
* Experience in analyzing complex issues and providing practical, creative solutions.
