Deputy Room Leader – St Albans
We have a new position open for a Deputy Room Leader to join a dynamic team at a thriving nursery near St Albans. The nursery is open 51 weeks per year Monday to Friday 7.30AM – 6.30PM, closing 1 week between Christmas and New Year. Located in the Bricket Wood area few minutes’ walk from Bricket Wood train station.

* £14.10 to £15.50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
* Full time (36 to 45 hours per week working different shifts incl Tue, Wed, Thu)
* Part Time (up to 27 hours per week working different shifts incl Tue, Wed, Thu)

Key Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification
* Experience in a nursery setting
* 12 hours paediatric first aid (essential)
* Food Hygiene or equivalent training and compliance in food management (this can be completed as part of Induction)
* Relevant safeguarding/child protection on training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly (essential)
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible to Nursery Manager/Room Leader
* Lead, mentor and inspire your respective room to deliver the highest care and education standards and support
* Lead and support the nursery curriculum to ensure a child‑centred approach to operating all aspects of the nursery and ensure the observation and planning process meets the needs of all children
* Support and manage health and safety policies and procedures and continuously demonstrate, monitor, and improve the practices and behaviours that underpin a high performing safety culture
* To lead by example and drive the culture of Safeguarding Children and promoting professional staff behaviour
* In collaboration with the Room Leader contribute to succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, and additional requirements for personal development plans including coaching and mentoring for all staff you are leading
* Working as part of a larger team to ensure all essential day to day tasks are completed in line with the nursery demands i.e. Hygiene standards and room preparation
* Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers to support the retention and ongoing occupancy growth
* Engage with the Local Authority and understand the referral processes when necessary to engage with professionals to make a child referral
* Continuation of personal professional development to ensure your knowledge and skills are up to date, full, and relevant to the role of leading teams as a room leader
