Location: Chepstow Pay Rate: £14.30 an hour Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm Contract: Full Academic Year ⭐About the Role Teaching Personnel is seeking an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Chepstow area, supporting pupils aged 11–16. In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in providing tailored support to students who require extra help to access learning. You will be involved in the school’s Additional Learning Needs (ALN) provision, supporting pupils with diverse needs, including learning difficulties, social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Your focus will be on removing barriers to learning by offering one-to-one and small group support, reinforcing learning in the classroom, and encouraging positive engagement and behaviour. Working closely with class teachers, the SEN/ALN team, and pastoral staff, you will help create a structured, calm, and nurturing environment where pupils feel understood, supported, and able to succeed. This is a varied, hands-on role where building strong, trusting relationships is key. What We’re Looking For We welcome applicants who can bring: Although we don’t require formal teaching qualifications, you must have relevant experience in childcare, youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles The ability to stay calm, kind, and approachable in challenging situations An understanding of the emotional and social needs of young people The ability to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically ✅Requirements (or willingness to obtain independently) To demonstrate commitment to working in education, applicants must hold or be willing to apply for: Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration Be aged 18 or over An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service Level 2 Safeguarding training A minimum of two professional references covering 24 months of employment Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
