Overview
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Consultant Psychological Therapist within the Personality Disorder Hub in the North East of England. This well‑established service has a well‑defined clinical strategy and will be entering a period of significant innovation and development in relation to Trust wide and National drivers for change.
Team
The Hub team consists of multidisciplinary professionals, including psychologists, psychological therapists, community practitioners, a speech and language therapist and, soon, an occupational therapist.
* Care co‑ordination, case management and treatment for a limited number of service users.
* Evidence‑based psychological therapies – predominantly Structured Clinical Management (SCM) and trauma stabilisation – with strong use of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), adapted for the unstable phase of the care pathway.
* Scaffolding (indirect joint working, governance and training) to other CNTW staff working with service users presenting with personality difficulties.
Responsibilities
* Provide professional leadership and develop the clinical strategy for the service.
* Collaborate with the Hub’s leadership team, Clinical Manager and Team Lead to deliver high‑quality, efficient and effective clinical care.
* Work strategically with Associate Directors to review and develop service provision to meet Trust priorities, National guidance and drivers.
* Offer expert opinion on complex cases and organisational advice where required.
* Apply extensive experience in working with service users who have personality, relational and emotional difficulties and who present with significant risk.
* Implement robust risk assessment and management, with in‑depth knowledge of enhanced safety planning.
