ROLE PURPOSE\n\nA Quantity Surveyor has a number of years’ experience in managing all costs relating to Mechanical & Electrical engineering. They may also have experience in delivering commercial services within a Facilities Management and fabric environment. They will be supporting other more senior members of the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties for one or more key clients within the business, as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain.
They actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our Customers. Typically the QS will be a peer role model for those less experienced members of the commercial team and have the potential to manage a small team of less experienced commercial colleagues.\n\nACCOUNTABILITIES\n\nGovernance\nHas a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s Policies and Procedures, IMS and other governance\n\nAnalytical Thinking & Decision Making\nOrders information and systematically checks data\n\nCost Engineering\nMeasure, record & value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures\nWork with PM and single source contractor over value engineering reductions\n\nEstimating\nMeasure & interpret specifications & drawings\nBuild up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates\nTranslate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and/or Schedules of rates\nProvide input and commercial adjudication to potential tenders (Go/No-go, etc)\n\nPlanning\nReview weekly, monthly, programmes of works\nPlan commercial activities to meet requirements of programmes\nHave an understanding of delay and disruption programmes\n\nProject Management\n\nUse the company’s Evolution MX System\n\nPrepares, submits and negotiates claims when required. Including monthly valuations and final accounts\n\nCollation of Cost and Value Information for monthly reviews\n\nExperienced in NEC3/4 - Issue and management of Early Warning Notices / EWN Register, Risk Register, Compensation Events and alike\n\nMonitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately with applicable notices\n\nPreparation of Cost reconciliation statements\n\nHelp identify savings and value engineering\n\nProcurement\n\nCollect information required to specify procurement requirements\n\nRecord and document information including registration of interest\n\nUnderstand the steps / documentation required\n\nCommercial Management\n\nUndertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility\n\nVetting of contractual terms and conditions in accordance with Integral house rules\n\nCash management: Commercial processes involved with debt recovery, retentions and cash flow\n\nMeasurement of works and agreements with subcontractors, including placement of sub-contract orders (T&C’s), valuing applications, measurement of variations and final account agreement\n\nMaintain a Personal Development Plan\n\nDevelopment, Recruitment and Retention\n\nSupports the development of others\n\nPERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE\n\nThe following qualifications are essential:\n• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent\n\nThe following qualities/experience are desirable:\n• Communication: with clients, internal staff, and the wider supply chain, in a positive manner.\n• Teamwork\n• Housekeeping: ensure work is accessible to the project team / management, electronically filed and easy to identify.\n• Achievement Focus (Achieving Results)\n• Previous Commercial Work experience\n• Industry knowledge
