Overview
Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Highways Engineer to work with a local authority in Manchester on an initial six month temporary assignment. This is a full time role working 35 hours per week (Mon - Fri) on a hybrid basis. The role sits within the Highways Service, supporting the delivery of traffic regulation and highway engineering schemes.
Main Duties
* Prepare and process Traffic Regulation Orders in line with legislation and council procedures
* Design highway and TRO related schemes including signage and road markings
* Manage statutory consultations and liaise with residents, businesses and elected members
* Maintain accurate project documentation including risk registers, cost monitoring and progress reporting
* Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and health and safety requirements
* Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to support scheme delivery
* Provide technical advice and respond to highways and TRO related enquiries
* Support delivery of work packages within agreed time, cost and quality constraints
* Contribute to continuous improvement of highways and TRO processes
Essential Criteria
* Experience working as a Highways Engineer within a local authority or similar environment
* Strong knowledge of Traffic Regulation Orders and relevant highway legislation
* Experience producing highway designs using CAD and TRO software such as Parkmap
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
* Strong communication skills with experience of stakeholder engagement
* Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, highways or transport related discipline
