Overview
PM/PMO Specialist - Defence & Security - Consultant Analyst at PA Consulting. Join a team delivering project, programme and portfolio capability across Defence, major projects & infrastructure, transport, energy and utilities, and the public sector. Hybrid working with client site presence as required.
Location
Hybrid working – minimum 2 days per week in office or on client site; up to 5 days per week on client site depending on assignment. Client locations include: Bristol, Andover, Portsmouth, Cardiff, Swindon, Cheltenham.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure successful delivery of projects from initiation to closure.
* Develop and execute project plans, defining scope, goals, deliverables, resources, and timelines, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
* Apply project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tailor approaches to meet client needs.
* Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies.
* Foster long-term client relationships through regular communication, expectation management, and transparent status updates.
* Monitor budgets and resource allocation to ensure efficient utilisation and adherence to financial targets.
* Implement change management strategies to facilitate smooth adoption of new solutions within client organisations.
* Engage stakeholders and facilitate collaboration among project participants.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Qualifications – About You
* Sole British nationality preferred due to work with secure clients; track record with secure clients is desirable.
* Experience in project management consulting/PMO or related roles with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
* Strong expertise in applying various project management methodologies and tools, adaptable to diverse project contexts.
* Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and motivate team members to achieve goals.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
* Analytical mindset with ability to identify and solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage risks effectively.
* Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, teams, and stakeholders at all levels.
