Cobalt is partnering with a major UK housebuilder to appoint a Finance Manager into its divisional finance team.
This role will support the effective management of the finance function and contribute to the commercial and operational success of the division. The position will suit a qualified accountant with strong commercial finance experience, ideally gained within housebuilding, residential development, construction or a related property environment.
The role
Working closely with the Finance Director, you will help lead the finance team, support monthly forecasting, contribute to divisional business planning and provide robust financial challenge across the business.
Key responsibilities
* Support the Finance Director in managing, developing and directing the finance team
* Provide cover for the Finance Director when required
* Assist with monthly forecasting and divisional three / five-year business planning
* Support financial management, reporting and commercial analysis across the division
* Take part in surveyor / valuation meetings and provide appropriate financial challenge
* Ensure divisional systems reflect the latest build, sales and completions forecasts
* Support payment and payroll processing through group systems
* Maintain strong cash management and budgetary control in line with group requirements
* Assist with reporting to the Managing Director and Divisional Board
* Help prepare finance board reports and divisional presentations
* Identify and resolve issues with significant financial or operational impact
* Support ad hoc divisional and cross‑functional projects
* Ensure adherence to group policies, procedures, systems and controls
Candidate profile
* Fully qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
* Strong post‑qualified experience in a senior commercial accounting role
* Housebuilding, residential development or construction experience highly desirable
* Strong financial analysis, forecasting and reporting capability
* Experience managing budgets, cost control and business planning
* Ability to challenge senior stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships
* Confident, resilient and able to operate in a fast‑paced divisional environment
* Strong team leadership, coaching and people management skills
* Highly numerate with strong IT and data interpretation skills
