Overview
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children across Key Stage 1, with flexibility to work across all phases from EYFS to Year 6 when required. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in pupils' learning, confidence and personal development.
Location: Middlesbrough, TS3
Salary: £20,722 - £21,386 (Actual) | £25,583 - £26,403 (FTE) + well-being cash plan + pension scheme + additional staff benefits
Hours: 35 per week, term-time only (39 weeks per year, pro rata)
Contract: Fixed term until August 2026
Start Date: November 2025
Responsibilities
* Work closely with class teachers to provide targeted one-to-one and small group support, particularly within KS1.
* Support lesson delivery and positive behaviour management.
* Assist with SEND provision and implement effective learning strategies.
* Prepare engaging resources and ensure the classroom is inclusive, stimulating, and safe.
* Support trips, enrichment activities, and wider school life.
Qualifications and Experience
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or working towards one).
* Experience supporting children in KS1 or EYFS.
* Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND.
* Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
* Understanding of child development and how children learn.
* Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
* Experience in positive behaviour management.
* A proactive, flexible approach and genuine enthusiasm for primary education.
* UK right to work (this role is not eligible for sponsorship).
