Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry Community CMHT
We are seeking a substantive whole‑time appointment to a newly established post in the Bury Mental Health Services. This post will cover a sector of the Bury area.
The Bury general adult psychiatry service (for people aged 16 to 64) is run according to a model wherein consultants are deployed in the following way: three consultants work exclusively in community and outpatient focus areas, one works with the Early Intervention Service, two work in inpatient area including Home Treatment and two in the A&E Liaison Team, and one in Living Well. The new post will involve working with other sector consultants (East, West and South sector community outpatients).
Patients will be seen in community clinics, at their homes or in other clinical settings according to clinical need.

Detailed responsibilities
Patients will be seen in community clinics, at home or in other settings. The role involves community and outpatient care, early intervention, inpatient and A&E liaison responsibilities, and teaching. Specific duties will be aligned with the service model and patient needs.
Person Specification
* Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent).
* Full registration with GMC and in good standing.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve with 3 months.
* Excellent knowledge of adult psychiatry, conditions and complex psychological problems.
* Sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post.
* Experience in detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals.
* Evidence of teaching and training ability, commitment to service improvement, CPD registration, audit activity, participation in on‑call rota, educational supervision experience, management and service development interest, initiative and innovation, published audit and research.
* Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent qualification (where required).
* Higher psychiatric training or equivalent.
* Section 12 (2) Approval under Mental Health Act 1983.
* Possession of CCT or within 6 months of achieving.
* CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
