About the Company
Our client is a well‑established precision engineering business supplying complex, high‑specification components into aerospace, defence, nuclear, utilities, power, and other safety‑critical sectors. The company operates to AS9100 standards and is progressing toward additional nuclear accreditation as part of its continued growth.
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a hands‑on, proactive, and detail‑oriented QA/QC Engineer to join our client on a contract basis with an immediate start. This role is key to ensuring robust quality systems and product compliance across both manufacturing processes and finished components.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance (Process-Oriented)
* Develop, implement, and improve SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation
* Ensure production processes align with quality standards and best practices
* Conduct internal audits in line with QMS and AS9100 requirements
* Support and coordinate external audits (customers and accreditation bodies)
* Drive corrective actions from audit findings
* Identify risks, bottlenecks, and failure points; implement preventative measures
* Train and mentor staff on quality procedures and promote a culture of continuous improvement
Quality Control (Product-Oriented)
* Inspect and test raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products
* Use precision measurement tools (CMM, micrometres, calipers, surface testers)
* Manage non‑conformities and lead root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys)
* Implement and verify corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)
* Ensure compliance with technical drawings, tolerances, and customer requirements
* Approve final product release
Calibration & Equipment
* Maintain calibration schedules and ensure inspection equipment accuracy and compliance
Documentation & Reporting
* Produce quality reports, KPIs, and performance dashboards
* Analyse trends to support continuous improvement
* Maintain certification and compliance records
* Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and handover documentation
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Proven QA/QC experience in precision engineering or manufacturing environments
* Strong knowledge of QMS (AS9100, ISO 9001)
* Experience with metrology equipment (including CMM)
* Familiarity with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
