Referment is partnering with Kilnbridge to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor, a pivotal role ensuring the highest safety standards across diverse construction projects in the North of England.
As a Health & Safety Advisor at Kilnbridge, you will be a crucial part of their commitment to operational excellence and safety. This role involves working across various dynamic, large-scale construction, civil engineering, or M&E projects throughout the north of England, ensuring robust health and safety practices are implemented and maintained. You will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Travel between sites will be supported by a company car or travel allowance.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
* Develop, implement, and review site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
* Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending effective corrective and preventative actions.
* Deliver comprehensive health and safety training and inductions to site personnel and contractors.
* Ensure strict adherence to all relevant UK health and safety legislation and company policies.
* Advise project teams and management on best practices for health, safety, and environmental protection.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date H&S records, reports, and documentation.
* Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture across all operational sites.
* Assist in the development and continuous improvement of H&S management systems and procedures.
* Monitor and evaluate contractor health and safety performance.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health & Safety professional ready to make a significant impact within a leading construction environment. You will be a confident communicator with a strong understanding of site operations and regulatory requirements.
* Proven hands-on, site-based experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on large-scale construction, civil engineering, or M&E projects.
* Essential NEBOSH qualification (Construction Certificate, National General Certificate, or Diploma).
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Demonstrable expertise in developing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), conducting comprehensive site audits and inspections, and effectively managing contractor safety performance.
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites across the north of England is essential.
* Proficiency in using H&S management systems and reporting tools.
* Experience working directly for major principal contractors in the UK construction or civil engineering industry is highly advantageous.
* Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) is a strong plus.
