Igloo is recruiting for a Level 3 Vehicle Technician to join our client’s busy automotive site in Upper Heyford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to take on more advanced diagnostics and complex repairs while supporting junior members of the team.
You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, working across both the workshop and compound in a fast-paced environment.
The Role:
1. Carry out advanced diagnostics using specialist equipment to identify and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
2. Complete major repairs including engine work, transmission repairs, and advanced braking systems.
3. Work on a range of vehicles, including supporting high-voltage systems where qualified.
4. Conduct detailed vehicle inspections, ensuring all work meets manufacturer and safety standards.
5. Support and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians, providing guidance on more complex repairs.
6. Work both in the workshop and on vehicles in the yard/compound where required.
7. Accurately complete job cards, technical reports, and records of work carried out.
8. Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures and workshop standards.
9. Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies and attend training when required.
What We’re Looking For:
10. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
11. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a workshop or dealership environment.
12. Strong diagnostic capability across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
13. Ability to interpret technical data and wiring diagrams.
14. Experience using diagnostic tools and manufacturer systems (Stellantis experience advantageous).
15. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
16. Strong communication skills and ability to support junior team members.
17. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
18. Full UK or EU driving licence.
19. Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and being on your feet for extended periods.
Desirable:
20. Experience working on hybrid, EV, or ADAS systems.
21. Experience across multiple vehicle manufacturers.
22. Ability to mentor or train junior technicians.
23. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively.
