Job Description: Support Worker (Children in Semi-Supported Accommodation)

We are looking for an ambitious, motivated, confident, proactive, and professional individual to join our team as a live-in support worker. This role involves working with a young adult in semi-supported accommodation, helping them develop the skills needed for independent living. Experience in this specific area is essential.

Responsibilities:

Eligible candidates must have the ability to perform key responsibilities, which include:

* Providing emotional support to our young person.

* Working collaboratively with other professionals, such as social workers, to ensure consistency of support and evaluate and address young people's needs.

* Encouraging them to attend to their personal hygiene and wellbeing.

* Supporting them with daily independent skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, shopping, tidying, community integration, and engaging in activities and attending appointments.

* Following their person-centred support plans.

* Ensuring the safety of them at the placement and in the community by risk assessing situations and carrying out daily safety checks at the placement.

* Supporting them to lead a good quality of life and helping them make positive life choices.

* Reporting and recording activities and incidents in line with protocol, e.g., Mispers, incident reports, weekly reports, and daily updates.

* Communicating with professionals and families, updating them where applicable.

* Understanding their communication needs and adapting your communication to them, e.g., sounds, tones, body language.

* Building therapeutic relationships with them and having the confidence to communicate effectively and listen to them with the aim of understanding and meeting their individual needs.

Person Specification:

Personal qualities are highly important: calm, patient, level-headed, kind, caring, and compassionate.

Experience:

Experience in working with children in semi-supported accommodation is essential. Induction and training on the job will be provided. Candidates must have a good attitude to work at all times and be professional.

Skills:

Must have:

* Effective communication skills, ability to listen and pay attention to our young people's concerns and provide non-judgmental responses.

* Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

* Teamwork skills.

* Computer literacy: use of Microsoft Office.

Education:

* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification, or the ability to achieve this within 12 months.

* A clean full driving license is preferred but not essential.

* Car ownership is an additional advantage.

You must be able to work in compliance with legislation and guidelines and in line with the vision, mission, values, policies, and practices of our organization.

Job Types:

Bank (zero hour)

£800 per week
