Associate Software Engineer
Location: Basingstoke

What will you do?

1. Design and deliver innovative technology assets that solve real project challenges.
2. Use software innovation to experiment, prototype, and develop more efficient, effective solutions that shape the future of Sony’s professional technology.
3. Explore new technologies and methods to solve emerging challenges before they reach the market.
4. Turn stakeholder requirements into high-quality solutions that meet project goals and deadlines.
5. Use approved tools, platforms, and processes to manage and maintain assets effectively.
6. Test theories and solutions regularly to ensure they meet Sony’s strict quality standards from initial concept to final delivery.
7. Collaborate closely with colleagues and stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.
8. Communicate progress and results through clear reports, presentations, and discussions.
9. Approach complex technical problems with creativity, precision, and discipline.
10. Help shape Sony’s next generation of professional technologies and make a lasting impact.

What we need you to bring?


Education

11. Degree in a relevant scientific or technical field such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

12. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
13. A natural ability to solve problems, create solutions and think innovatively
14. 0-3 years of demonstrable experience within software development including exposure to data processing, multimedia processing, database design, or web technologies (front-end and/or back-end).
15. Familiarity with development tools and programming languages, for example: Microsoft Visual Studio, GitLab, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
16. Exposure/experience or knowledge of cloud platforms, such as: Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure and related technologies. For example: machine learning, secure design, containerisation, media transport protocols.
17. Demonstrable experience of working on research-based projects
