Your role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and technically skilled finance professional to join a forward-thinking local authority.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the Corporate Finance team and ensuring high standards of financial governance, accuracy, and performance.
This role will suit someone with a strong technical background in local government accounting who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
You will be part of an award winning and innovative team working regularly with your peers, chief officers and senior managers across the Council and a number of our collaborative partner organisations.
About you:
You’ll be a qualified accountant with a proven track record in senior public sector finance roles. You’ll bring strategic insight, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment. In addition, you will:
* Hold a full accountancy qualification and have substantial experience and successful track record of operating at a senior level within a local authority or similar public sector organisation.
* Have a proven track record in a target driven environment.
* Be able to represent the Service and the Council at a local and regional level.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate the ability to consider the strategic implications of the work undertaken by the Council and its directorates.
* Be able to interpret complex government policy.
* Be confident in leading a multi-disciplinary team by instilling a strong relationship model of financial support to stakeholders.
