Shop Manager – Oxfam Shops

Role Overview
The shop manager is the commercial anchor of a local Oxfam shop. Commercially aware, they motivate and guide a small team in a volunteer‑led environment. The role is full time, requires weekend working and is the only paid staff member in most shops.
Key Responsibilities
* Achieve sales and profitability targets by managing daily shop operations.
* Build, retain and develop a high‑performing shop team, delegating and coaching to deliver results.
* Ensure a safe, energised and inclusive work environment, upholding Oxfam values of empowerment, accountability and inclusiveness.
* Interpret basic financial reports and use simple IT tools (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
* Apply commercial awareness and judgement to drive business opportunities.
* Contribute to the volunteer operating model, empowering volunteers to take over most shop tasks.

* Significant leadership qualities and experience.

* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong motivation, enthusiasm and a sense of fun.
* Commercial awareness and judgement.
* Ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports.
* IT literacy (email systems, basic spreadsheets, word processing).

* Understanding of equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health principles.
