Could you be a SEND Tutor - Senior SEND Tutor at Sense College?
Due to an increase in student numbers, we’re looking for reliable and motivated individuals to join our professional team as Special Education Needs and Disability Tutors at our College Centre based in Bedford. We welcome applications from those seeking full-time or part-time hours.
The successful applicants will support young people with special education needs as they prepare for adulthood. You will be part of a dedicated team assessing needs and developing person-centred education programmes. Your role will involve supporting students both in the classroom and in the wider community, with a focus on improving communication skills and independence.

Key responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for small groups of SEND students aged 16-19
* Lead on an area of the curriculum, ensuring it is current, relevant, and meets all students’ needs
* Conduct specialist assessments to determine key learning aims for students
* Work with the Vice Principal of Curriculum and Quality to mentor new and developing education team members
* Carry out observations and learning walks as part of mentoring and quality improvement initiatives
* Deliver training on your lead area and others to ensure staff are equipped to support student learning
* Represent the college at EHCP reviews, parent meetings, taster days, open days, and transition events
Your required skills and experiences:
* Educated to BA degree level
* Higher-level teaching qualification, e.g., Certificate in Education or PGCE Level 5 Diploma
* Excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and professionals
* Ability to identify learning barriers and develop appropriate programmes
* Knowledge of specialist teaching strategies and delivering them in a person-centred manner
* Skills to mentor and coach tutors and support staff to enhance their performance
