Job summary

Working as a member of the Horticulture team, this apprentice position is intended for someone motivated to pursue a career as a professional horticulturist and contribute to the maintenance and development of facilities managed by the Parks & Cemeteries Service. The post holder will undertake a four-year apprenticeship scheme, attending formal college and receiving workplace tuition.

Please Note:

1. This Apprenticeship is for a 4 Year Fixed Term Contract, which may be made permanent, however there is no guarantee of this. Permanent placement will be dependent on the needs of the service at this time
2. Working hours are 36 hours per week normally worked Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 2.30pm
3. Day Release to college will be accommodated.
4. The postholder may be required to work outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays.
5. Based initially in the Walled Garden, Bangor; however, successful candidates will be required to move to an alternative location in accordance with training and operational requirements.
6. The postholder will be paid at Scale 2 and will only move to Scale 3 on completion of NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture. Current salary range is £25,185 to £26,403 per annum.
7. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a medical questionnaire including a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol Screening.
8. A reserve list may be held for this post.
