Role Purpose We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded individual to join our Corporate & Commercial team as an embedded BD Executive. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys developing practical strategies to generate new business and strengthen client relationships. You’ll work closely with lawyers to shape their business development activity, ensuring efforts are focused, tracked, and refined for maximum impact. You’ll report to the Head of Corporate & Commercial and work in close partnership with the Brand & Campaigns Director. You’ll also collaborate with BD colleagues across the firm, sharing ideas and best practice to support a joined-up approach to growth. Strategic Planning Collaborate with the Head of Corporate & Commercial and the Brand & Campaigns team to develop the strategic business development plan, subject to review by the Brand & Campaigns Director and final approval by the Head of Corporate & Commercial. Prepare business development reports for department meetings and the annual strategy planning event. Hold regular meetings with the Brand & Campaigns Director to review progress, identify support needs, and agree on next steps. Campaign Leadership and Implementation Develop clear and actionable plans for all campaign activity, including events. Lead allocated campaigns in partnership with the Brand & Campaigns team, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Support the delivery of campaigns led by other team members, ensuring consistency and timely execution. Content Creation and Digital Engagement Manage the publication of branded content that supports strategic goals, ensuring consistency with the firm’s tone. Use engagement data and insights provided by the Digital team to track performance and recommend improvements. Monitor and grow the ‘Essentials’ subscriber base using data provided by the Digital team. Promote effective LinkedIn usage across the team, offering training and support in collaboration with the Digital team. Use the intranet to share internal knowledge and showcase how the Corporate & Commercial team supports clients, encouraging cross-team referrals. Teamwide BD Oversight Create and maintain plans for selected team members to drive BD activity and ensure accountability. Ensure team members are well-prepared for events to maximise engagement and return. Monitor follow-up activity from events and overseas visits, measuring outcomes and identifying opportunities. Maintain regular communication with the team to track business development leads. Lead bi-weekly BD meetings and report on team-wide BD performance. ROI Monitoring and Referral Tracking Analyse referral data to help lawyers focus on high-value opportunities, discussing insights with the Brand & Campaigns Director. Ensure accurate recording of new matters and origination in the CRM system. Maintain up-to-date internal and external referral lists. Collateral and Web Content Management Develop and update website content, including securing testimonials and preparing case studies. Confirmed content is published by the Digital team, with styling and image suggestions provided. Maintain team sheets and information documents, with formatting and styling support from the Brand & Campaigns team. Market and Legal Intelligence Monitor legal and market developments to identify opportunities and potential risks. Raise key issues with the Head of Corporate & Commercial and Brand & Campaigns Director, or incorporate into strategy where appropriate. Competitor Analysis Conduct targeted research into competitor activity, market trends, and innovative approaches. Share insights with the Head of Corporate &Commercial and present findings at departmental meetings. PR and Awards Press Releases: Collaborate on deal completions to prepare internal and external communications. Liaise with external press contacts and ensure publication via the Digital team. Award Submissions: Develop submission strategies and work with the team to prepare entries (e.g., Insider Media Awards). Coordinate internal and external communications based on outcomes, with support from the Events team and publication by the Digital team. Legal Directory Submissions Develop a strategy for legal directory submissions working collaboratively with the team Prepare, in collaboration with the team, submission content for review and finalisation by the Brand & Campaigns Director. Pitch Document Preparation Draft compelling copy for pitch documents. Collaborate with the Brand & Campaigns team to ensure formatting and styling meet brand standards. Key Measures of Success Strategic BD plan delivered and implemented. Campaigns executed with measurable impact. Growth in digital engagement and visibility. Consistent, high-quality content published. Events supported with clear ROI. BD leads tracked and progressed. Accurate CRM and referral data maintained. What We’re Looking For Experience & Knowledge Proven experience in business development, marketing, or campaign management within a professional services or corporate environment. Strong understanding of strategic planning and how BD activities support wider business goals. Experience with content creation, digital engagement (including social media and email marketing), and event coordination. Familiarity with CRM systems, data tracking, and performance analysis. Knowledge of legal directories, awards submissions, branding, and PR processes (desirable). Experience in a legal or consultancy setting (desirable). Skills & Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging content. Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Confident using LinkedIn for professional engagement. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and apply insights. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with digital analytics and marketing tools.
