Unqualified Teacher – Southampton
Prospero Teaching is recruiting enthusiastic and confident Unqualified Teachers to work across secondary schools in Southampton. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy leading groups of students, feel comfortable managing a classroom, and want paid, hands‑on experience in education without requiring QTS.
You will step in when the class teacher is absent, deliver the lesson content already prepared, and ensure students remain engaged and on task. This position offers valuable classroom exposure and is well suited to graduates, aspiring teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, youth workers, sports coaches, or anyone with experience supporting young people.
Work is available on a full‑time, long‑term, or flexible day‑to‑day basis depending on your availability.
The Role:
1. Lead lessons using pre‑planned materials provided by the school
2. Take responsibility for the classroom during teacher absence
3. Manage behaviour and maintain a positive learning atmosphere
4. Support pupils with understanding tasks and completing work
5. Work across a range of subjects and timetables
6. Teach students across KS3 and KS4
7. Follow all safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies
Ideal Candidate:
8. Experience working with children or young people (schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, coaching, etc.)
9. Confident managing behaviour and leading a group
10. Clear communicator with good organisational skills
11. Calm, adaptable, and reliable under pressure
12. Comfortable covering a variety of subjects
13. Graduates or aspiring teachers strongly encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
14. Position: Unqualified Teacher
15. Location: Southampton
16. Start Date: ASAP
17. Working Pattern: Full‑time, part‑time, or day‑to‑day
18. Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
19. Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
20. Experience with young people is essential
21. Classroom or behaviour‑management experience is beneficial
22. Safeguarding training can be provided
