Overview
Specialist Speech and Language Therapist needed to join a multidisciplinary team in Chorley & South Ribble to provide a high quality service to children with speech, language and communication difficulties across the locality. The post-holder will have a community caseload of children and will contribute assessment findings as part of the neurodevelopmental pathway for children under 5 years. The role includes work within special schools and with children with complex needs within the community; experience in these settings is essential.

Responsibilities
* Manage an identified specialist caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, training for parents/carers and professionals, contribution to multidisciplinary team working, provision of EHCPs and creation of individualized management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and evidence-based treatment skills
* Provide assessment of social communication needs in line with the Trust’s neurodevelopmental pathway
* Provide clinical supervision for junior speech and language therapists and/or assistants
* Participate in the clinical education of speech and language therapy students

The Team
The team comprises Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and therapy assistants. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. Successful applicants will be able to work closely with experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapy colleagues in a supportive environment.
Organisation
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across the area. Specialist provision includes inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community with partners in Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton.
