Overview

NRL are supporting our client SeAH Wind in the recruitment of an Inventory and Logistics Manager to work in their new multi-million pound factory in Middlesbrough. SeAH Wind is manufacturing the largest XXXL monopiles globally to support the transition to cleaner renewable energy.

You will lead and coordinate the logistics team for the safe and efficient transportation of materials and products around site and within the factory, meeting applicable safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines to maximise productivity and profitability.


Responsibilities

* Develop and implement transportation strategy to optimise movement of materials and products around the site.
* Coordinate the movements of materials and products around site.
* Manage the main raw steel inventory to enable timely production of monopiles.
* Coordinate with Procurement on incoming deliveries from dockside to facility.
* Coordinate with Project Team on planned shipments and key movements.
* Control supplier performance in relation to SPMTs (Self Propelled Modular Transport).
* Execute transportation cost estimates and budgets.
* Develop policies and procedures to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient movement of materials and products to meet customer requirements and enable continuous production.
* Oversee the transportation team, directing activity and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
* Drive collaboration with logistics and production teams to find optimal solutions for timely material delivery.
* Develop and maintain a strong tracking system for all material movements into/from/within the area of operation.
* Liaise with other departments and sub-contractors to support manufacturing according to schedule requirements.
* Oversee a high volume of heavy and special transports, handling of heavy materials, loading/unloading, transportation and installation.
* Train contractors on logistics, SOPs, compliance standards and safety performance.
* Plan the best use of available space to ensure materials and products are stored correctly and efficiently.
* Identify and resolve problems to prevent reoccurrences and escalate issues that undermine quality, safety and delivery.
* Ensure costs are monitored and managed.


What we need from you

* Experience operating overhead gantry cranes, forklift trucks and SPMTs.
* Minimum of A to C GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Appropriate licence or qualification in operating forklift trucks, SPMTs or other relevant mobile plant (advantageous, training provided).
* Prior management and leadership experience.
* Experience of writing SOPs and procedures.
* Extensive experience in transportation and logistics.
* Ideally, experience in a heavy engineering/fabrication environment.
