Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Care Assistant to join our residential care home team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality support to elderly residents, many of whom are living with dementia. This role involves assisting residents with their daily living needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety, while promoting independence wherever possible. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires working both day and night shifts on a rota basis. A strong focus on person-centred care, patience, and empathy is key to success in this role.

Duties

* Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Provide attentive care by monitoring residents' wellbeing and reporting any changes to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
* Support with mealtime assistance, including serving and helping residents eat where required, while respecting individual dietary needs.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
* Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs.
* Follow individual care plans to meet the specific needs of each resident.
* Administer medication in line with training, policies, and regulations.
* Encourage and participate in meaningful activities to support residents' social, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing.
* Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering trust and positive relationships with residents and their families.
* Accurately document care provided and observations, maintaining clear communication with the wider care team.

Experience

* Previous experience in elderly care, dementia care, or residential care settings is highly desirable.
* Understanding of dementia care practices and person-centred approaches is preferred.
* Training or certification in first aid and CPR would be advantageous.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently when required.
* Experience with manual handling and use of mobility aids is beneficial.
* A caring nature, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are vital.

This position requires a genuine commitment to supporting elderly residents with dignity, respect, and compassion. If you are passionate about providing high-quality care and can work flexibly across day and night shifts, we welcome you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
