Customer Service Advisor - Finance Operations Helpdesk\n\nLocation: One Angel Square,\n\nNorthampton\n\nHours: 37 hours per week\n\nContract Type: Temporary\n\nPay: £14.88\n\nAbout the Role\n\nOpus People Solutions on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council is recruiting for a Customer Service Advisor within Finance Operations Helpdesk, you'll be the first point of contact for a wide range of finance-related queries. You'll support internal staff, residents, suppliers, and users across our partner organisations, including:\n\nCambridgeshire County Council\n\nMilton Keynes City Council\n\nNorth Northamptonshire Council\n\nWest Northamptonshire Council\n\nNorthamptonshire Pension Fund …and more.\n\nYou'll play a key role in resolving queries, ensuring data accuracy, and delivering exceptional customer service across functions such as Accounts Payable, Income Processing, Debt Recovery, and Direct Payments.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nResolve 80%+ of customer queries at first contact\n\nAccurately assess and record customer needs using appropriate systems\n\nHandle complaints and concerns professionally and efficiently\n\nContinuously seek service improvements\n\nOwn customer enquiries and provide timely updates\n\nUse Office 365 and internal systems to manage information securely\n\nPromote inclusive and safe working practices\n\nAbout You\n\nWe're looking for someone who is:\n\nMotivated by helping others\n\nSkilled in handling sensitive queries with empathy and professionalism\n\nAble to work independently and as part of a team\n\nComfortable using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new systems\n\nExperienced in customer service, ideally in a contact centre or council environment\n\nEssential Qualifications:\n\nGCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths\n\nWillingness to undertake training in Office 365 and IT systems\n\nDesirable:\n\nNVQ Level 2 in Customer Service\n\nFormal IT qualification (e.g., ECDL)\n\nForeign language skills\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nA dynamic and supportive team environment\n\nOpportunities for professional development\n\nA culture that values innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement\n\nAll appointments are subject to standard pre-employment checks including identity, references, right to work, medical clearance, and qualification verification.\n\nReady to thrive with us?
