Are you mechanically minded and looking to take your first steps towards a rewarding career in an industrial setting? At Thalia, we are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Waste Treatment Plant near Knaresborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while being supported to grow and develop your skills in a rapidly evolving industry.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will assist in maintaining and repairing mechanical plant equipment such as conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, and valves. You’ll play a key role in our mechanical maintenance team, working alongside experienced engineers who will help you build your knowledge and practical skills. Whether it’s planned preventative maintenance or troubleshooting, this role offers a great variety of tasks to build your confidence and technical expertise.
The working hours for this role are as follows:
* Week 1: 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday
* Week 2: 10pm - 6am Monday - Friday
Salary for the role is £34,000 + annual 5% bonus

Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in identifying and rectifying mechanical issues on equipment like conveyor belts, valves, pumps, and cranes.
* Carry out fabrication work and general workshop duties.
* Support the team in planned maintenance tasks and major plant shutdowns.
* Operate workshop machinery and undertake refurbishment projects.
* Participate in team briefings and toolbox talks to keep safety and quality top of mind.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance at all times.
