Martin’s is a Catholic primary school situated in the South West of Tranent in East Lothian. St. Martin’s has a roll of 116 pupils from P1 to P7. and a nursery class with capacity of 20. We are one of 9 Cluster primary schools that feed into Ross High secondary school.
All staff have very positive relationships with learners across the school and their knowledge of the learners, their families and the community is the foundation to the ethos and atmosphere within the school. We work flexibly to ensure that interventions are put in place to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional needs, with the role of the additional PEF funded PT remit having been central for this session. We strive to ensure that every child feels safe and valued. As a school community we openly show respect, care and consideration for others and we work together to develop the vision of the school ‘As a community of Faith and Learning we go Over and Above’.
We firmly believe in the development of leadership at all levels and have had staff leading improvements across a variety of areas such as interdisciplinary learning, literacy, health and wellbeing, rights respecting schools and visual supports. Moving into next session we are looking to build on these improvements to enhance IDL opportunities for all learners, embark on our journey to become a gold Rights Respecting and Laudato Si School alongside developing our culture and pedagogy of reading. We have a stable teaching and support staff which continues to build significant capacity for improvement in the school. Attainment across the school has continued to improve in literacy and numeracy. We work closely with our Quality Improvement Officer on a regular basis to interrogate this data and the information which sits behind it.
Our Vision - As a community of Faith and Learning we go: Over and Above. “Quae sursum Quaerite”
Our Values
- Kindness
- Belief
- Pride
Our Aims
It is our aim that every member of the school community is:
- Ready
- Respectful
- Safe
