This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on day-to-day activities. This role involves working alongside efforts on regulatory reform and supporting the transition of the regime to ‘business as usual’.
The key duties and responsibilities include:
* Providing technical leadership in waste classification
* Leading Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve it
* Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
* Offering technical support on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy initiatives
* Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing unit within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling.

Additional Information

This is a national role with a flexible/hybrid working location. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
