We are looking for a Midwife with significant knowledge of midwifery safeguarding, including experience at operational and strategic delivery levels. Do you have a passion for supporting staff who care for families through socially and emotionally challenging pregnancies to achieve the best outcomes for their newborns? Can you listen to the voice of the child behind the adults, focusing on achieving the best outcomes for families? Do you have the skills to work in a challenging environment while providing knowledge, leadership, and expert support to enhance a compassionate and safe experience for all involved in unborn safeguarding, and to develop the strategic direction of midwifery safeguarding for the service?
Key Responsibilities:
1. To be the Named Midwife for Midwifery services, providing strategic and operational leadership, specialist support, and advice for staff working in women's services and across the Trust. To raise the profile of safeguarding issues in clinical areas, with an emphasis on liaison with external agencies and best practices in attendance, admission, and discharge.
2. To be a key member of the Trust's integrated safeguarding team, offering specialist information on maternity safeguarding and ensuring shared learning between maternity, adult, and children's safeguarding teams.
3. To collaborate closely with multi-agency colleagues, including mental health services, children's social care, and the police, to ensure optimal outcomes for women, birthing people, babies, and families in Bradford.
4. To lead and support the Maternity Safeguarding team in assisting ward managers and staff to deliver high-quality safeguarding practices throughout the care journey.
5. To demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices, such as 'Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)', and relevant policies and procedures.
6. To provide safeguarding supervision and guidance on complex case management.
