Job Description
The Lancaster Environment Centre is seeking a Senior Research Associate for the DeTOX project "Determination of Tropical Oxidising Capacity through model calibration". This is a full‑time post with funding for up to 42 months, starting January 2026 or as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and apply the FRSGC/UCI chemistry transport model to quantify impacts of key processes on oxidants in the tropics.
* Collate a comprehensive suite of observations to constrain models.
* Run perturbed parameter ensembles with the model to inform calibration.
* Use the calibrated model to investigate future tropospheric composition changes.
Qualifications
* PhD in atmospheric science or a closely related discipline.
* Experience in developing and applying atmospheric models.
* Strong programming and data analysis skills using R, Python or similar languages.
* Experience with statistical and machine‑learning approaches is desirable.
