We are seeking a committed, creative, and passionate English Teacher to join their dedicated team and make a real difference to the lives of young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
About the English Teacher Role:
As an English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational and personal journeys of KS3 pupils. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering engaging and inclusive English lessons that meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities and SEMH needs.
2. Teaching a mix of KS3 curriculum content as well as Functional Skills English, ensuring all students can access, progress, and achieve.
3. Creating a calm, safe, and positive classroom environment that promotes confidence and resilience.
4. Supporting pupils with barriers to learning and helping them re-engage with education.
5. Working in line with the school's philosophy, policies, and safeguarding priorities.
Curriculum Responsibilities:
The role of English Teacher will involve creativity and adaptability, tailoring learning to suit individual pupil needs. Your duties will include:
6. Planning, preparing, and delivering inspiring lessons in English that combine KS3 curriculum coverage and Functional Skills English.
7. Using a variety of teaching methods and approaches to engage pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
8. Assessing progress, setting achievable targets, and celebrating success at every stage.
9. Supporting pupils in building literacy skills that will prepare them for future qualifications, training, or employment.
10. Contributing to the wider school curriculum and cross-curricular activities.
General Duties of an English Teacher:
In addition to teaching, the English Teacher will be expected to:
11. Prioritise safeguarding and pupil well-being at all times.
12. Take part in regular reviews of teaching practices, assessment methods, and pupil progress.
13. Serve as a role model, setting high expectations for both academic and personal development.
14. Provide constructive feedback to pupils, helping them reflect and improve.
15. Contribute to a collaborative and nurturing school culture
