Job Description

This strategic role holds full end‑to‑end ownership of events at our London HQ, from high‑level strategy to hands‑on execution. As the on‑site events specialist, you’ll design and deliver experiences that drive engagement, foster connection, and reinforce our high‑performance culture here at Checkout. We’re seeking a Specialist, Events, Workplace Experience to lead the strategy and delivery of internal events and workplace activations. This role goes far beyond logistics, demanding a balance of strategic planning, creative experience design, and rigorous data‑led decision making. As a cultural architect, you will be the central owner for designing experiences that are directly aligned with our business objectives and operating principles, ensuring they are measurable in their impact. This is a full‑time, hybrid role, requiring flexibility for some out‑of‑hours events.

Role Overview | Remit and Responsibilities

* Develop & Own the Annual Strategy: You will develop, own, and deploy an experience and data‑led events strategy that aligns with Checkout’s company objectives, operating principles, and engagement KPIs, ensuring every event has a clear purpose, audience, and defined ROI.
* Curate a world‑class calendar of experiences, from larger‑scale company gatherings, all‑employee meetings to ‘always on’ events and activations that strengthen culture, connection, and belonging.
* Lead Senior Stakeholder Partnership: You will partner directly with senior leadership, DEIB, and Engagement Committees to translate business and cultural goals (including heritage months) into meaningful, inclusive, and measurable experiences.
* Manage End‑to‑End Event Lifecycle: You will lead the complete event lifecycle, from initial creative concepting, stakeholder alignment, and logistics to supplier management, onsite delivery and post‑event analysis.
* Oversee Flawless Operations: You will coordinate all operational elements across all event profiles, including scheduling, invites, catering, AV/tech requirements, and physical setup/breakdown, ensuring seamless execution.
* Drive integrated event communications and marketing, collaborating with Internal Comms and Brand to deliver impactful ‘wrap‑around’ campaigns that build anticipation, engagement, and post‑event momentum.
* Own the events budget, including forecasting, tracking, and ROI analysis, ensuring every initiative maximizes value, efficiency, and business impact.
* Lead Vendor & Risk Management: You will build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate competitive contracts, and lead on all risk assessments, compliance, and health and safety requirements for events.
* Champion Data‑Driven Improvement: You establish, track, and analyze all KPIs (attendance, eNPS, sentiment, ROI), using data storytelling to demonstrate value to leadership and drive continuous program innovation.
* Act as a Key Cross‑Functional Partner: You will work in close alignment with Workplace, Comms, and Brand teams on integrated storytelling, support newsletter content, and liaise with global counterparts to share best practices.

About You | Requirements

* Proven ability to deliver end‑to‑end, high‑impact events and activations in a fast‑paced, global or creative environment. Ideally in fintech, tech, or professional services.
* A strategic and data‑driven mindset, with the ability to translate business goals into meaningful experiences and measure success through defined metrics and ROI.
* Creative vision and storyteller, with strong aesthetic judgment and a passion for designing experiences that connect people and celebrate culture.
* Strong commercial and operational acumen, including hands‑on budget ownership, supplier negotiation, and post‑event financial reporting.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence and presence to partner effectively with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
* Highly organised, adaptable, and calm under pressure, capable of managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
* Genuine enthusiasm for community, culture, and belonging, bringing creativity, empathy, and intent to every initiative.
* Flexibility to support out‑of‑hours events.

Support the broader Workplace team by monitoring internal communications channels, responding to or escalating Workplace‑related queries, and providing occasional on‑site support such as emergency reception coverage as needed.
