Job Title: Construction Manager – Water Capital Delivery
Location: Falmer (Hybrid) plus site visits across the patch

Job Overview
Southern Water is seeking a dynamic and experienced Construction Manager to lead the Construction Supervision Team within our Capital Delivery function. This pivotal role ensures the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in line with Southern Water Standards (SWS), NEC4 Engineering & Construction Contract Supervisor duties, and regulatory requirements.
You will provide functional leadership and line management to a team of approximately 8 ECC Construction Supervisors, acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for construction compliance and quality assurance across our Delivery Partner (DP) and Strategic Delivery Partner (SDP) contracts.
Responsibilities will include:
Leadership & Team Management
1. Lead, coach, and develop the ECC Supervisors across Water and Wastewater Capital Delivery.
2. Manage staffing schedules and recruitment, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time.
3. Drive continuous professional development and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
4. Champion health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all construction activities.
5. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and promote sustainable solutions, including Biodiversity Net Gain.
Construction Oversight & Assurance
6. Lead constructability reviews and ensure “right first time” delivery through pre-construction and construction phases.
7. Provide assurance to leadership that all works meet the quality standards defined in the Works Information.
Commissioning Support & Standards Development
8. Support commissioning activities, particularly in water projects.
9. Develop strategic plans to enhance construction and NEC4 ECC compliance.
10. Create and manage audit plans for Construction Supervisors.
About You
Essential:
11. HNC or higher in Civil or Process Engineering.
12. Proven experience in construction management
13. Strong understanding of NEC4 ECC Supervisor duties and CDM regulations.
14. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
15. Computer literate and familiar with industry specifications (CESWI, WIMES, etc.).
Desirable:
16. NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation.
17. Experience in water sector design and build.
18. Knowledge of commissioning, Inspection & Testing Plans (ITPs), and Reg 31 requirements.
Package
This role will be full-time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.
