Mechanical Supervisor (Plumbing)
Location: HMP Exeter, 30 New N Rd, Exeter EX4 4EX
Salary: £46,775.42 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other facility maintenance staff.
* Ensure safe and efficient operation of plumbing and heating systems across HMP Exeter.
* Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
* Oversee health & safety practices and manage risk and compliance, including documented planning and project management.
* Support the smooth, safe operation of the prison’s self‑contained facilities, affecting prisoners, staff and visitors.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 qualification in plumbing or related engineering (e.g., C&G 6189, C&G 5962, C&G 6019, etc.).
* Minimum five years of experience in facilities management, secure, military, health or similar sectors.
* Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.
* Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation, Legionella L8 control and good health & safety knowledge.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills with demonstrable planning and project‑management experience.
