Job Summary
Methods Engineer opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) supporting Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2‑GW low‑carbon power station generating electricity for around 6 million homes.
This role is within the Logistics & Services Section.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain site plot plans and logistics layouts (traffic routes and management, lay‑down areas, welfare and plant operation zones).
* Produce and review technical drawings, BIM models, and sequences to support logistic activities.
* Define and support delivery of temporary buildings and accommodation infrastructure including utilities and installation methodology.
* Develop construction methodologies, logistics strategies and sequencing plans aligned with site constraints.
* Prepare technical documentation for logistics and plant operations.
* Identify risks and constraints, implementing migration and optimisation solutions.
* Coordinate with all stakeholders for the design and implementation of temporary works.
* Manage temporary work interfaces within logistic area/scope, ensuring procedures, permits to load, to work are compiled before engaging works.
* Prepare and review design briefs to ensure they are adequate and as per the project standards.
* Ensure the duration for temporary works designs, checking and construction are realistically timed in the programme.
* Ensure construction method statements incorporate the requirements for temporary works designs.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Strong experience of logistics interfaces and operations on major projects.
* Strong understanding of plant and equipment used in major civil engineering projects.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple delivery teams and manage interfaces.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to interpret mechanical and civil technical drawings, specifications and plant data.
* Demonstrable high level of competence in using tools such as AutoCAD, Primavera and CMMS.
* Strong knowledge of British Standard for Temporary Works (BS 5975).
Desirable
* Nuclear/license condition experience.
* Experience managing similar systems in civil engineering projects.
* Experience using computerised maintenance management systems.
* Knowledge of lifting procedures and legislation in the UK.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Civil or mechanical engineering background (degree or equivalent experience).
* Experience in plant operations, logistics, maintenance or engineering support roles.
Desirable
* Temporary works or construction engineering qualifications.
* Experience working within joint ventures or alliances.
* UK major infrastructure or construction project experience.
* Relevant safety or plant‑related training (e.g. appointed persons).
