This role is being advertised as a Data Protection Officer, but on appointment your job title will be Privacy Officer.
Southern Housingis hiring a Data Protection Officer to join ourData Protection Team. In this role you will help Southern Housing meet its regulatory obligations for the management, use and protection of personal data. Reporting to the Head of Data Protection, you will deliver timely administrative and advisory support across data protection activities, ensuring compliance documentation is kept up to date and Individual Rights Requests are managed in line with policy.
What youll do:
Provide day-to-day administrative support for Subject Access Requests, Right to Erasure requests and other individual rights, including redaction of third-party data and validation of disclosure files.
Maintain the Data Protection Teams systems, records and files, ensuring accuracy, security and auditability.
Administer the data breach register (OneTrust), support investigations and help provide breach guidance to business teams.
Support data protection communications with assistance from the Communications Team and provide administrative support to the Data Protection Champions Group.
Assist with colleague inductions and training; prepare presentation and training materials on data protection topics.
Maintain a register of DP enquiries, produce analysis of recurring issues and manage the data protection intranet site in coordination with the Head of DP and Data Protection Manager.
Help review third-party risk assessments via OneTrust, support suppliers with compliance queries and assist the Privacy Analyst with Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Support data minimisation and other DP projects; arrange meetings, manage the team inbox and Customer Dynamics tasks, and handle general administrative duties.
Based in our Sittingbourne office, this role offers hybrid working arrangements of 2 days per week in the office and 3 days work from home. Some occasional travel to our main offices may be required from time to time.
What youll need:
Excellent data protection knowledge
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across other teams to raise awareness and instil a culture of data protection compliance
Experience in providing data protection advice to key stakeholders
Experience in investigating data protection breaches
Ability to work under pressure and to tight legislative deadlines
Ability to work independently and manage own workload
